Drones targeted one of Russia’s largest oil refineries overnight, with the strike reportedly aimed at a facility in the Yaroslavl region.
According to local Telegram channels and a statement from Yaroslavl region governor Mikhail Evraev, the overnight attack may have hit the Slavneft-YANOS refinery — Russia’s sixth-largest refinery by capacity, processing around 15 million tons of oil annually.
Videos circulating on local social media appeared to show drones flying over the city during the attack.
Evraev confirmed that the region had come under a large-scale drone assault. He said there were no casualties, adding that “most of the drones were intercepted,” though one industrial facility was struck and emergency services were working to extinguish a fire.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that air defense systems had shot down 315 Ukrainian drones overnight.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that recent Ukrainian strikes had allegedly destroyed 10% of Russia’s oil refining capacity and stressed that disruptions to oil wells are particularly damaging for Moscow.
Commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces Robert 'Madyar' Brovdi also claimed that Moscow’s air defense network can launch more than 700 anti-aircraft missiles simultaneously, though Ukrainian drones were still able to penetrate Russian defenses.
