A Day of Mourning has been declared in Kyiv for tomorrow following a deadly Russian strike on a residential building.
During the night of May 14, Russian forces hit a nine-story apartment block in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv. According to Tymur Tkachenko, the death toll has risen to eight, including a 13-year-old child. Another 44 people were injured, among them two children.
Rescue workers have recovered two more bodies from under the rubble, and search-and-rescue operations are still ongoing. Psychologists, canine units, medics, and firefighters remain at the scene. The State Emergency Service reports that around 20 people are currently missing.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced that Friday, May 15, will be observed as an official Day of Mourning.
In the wider Kyiv region, seven people were injured as a result of the attacks. In the town of Chabany, a Russian missile struck the ground floor of a residential building but did not detonate.
