Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia is considering possible scenarios for attacks on Ukraine through the Chernihiv–Kyiv direction from both Belarus and Russia’s Bryansk region.
According to Zelensky, the issue was discussed during a meeting of Ukraine’s military command staff with participation of intelligence services, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. The focus of the discussion was the situation along the Belarus–Bryansk operational axis.
He stated that Ukraine is already working to strengthen its defenses in the area and that corresponding instructions have been given to the military command. Zelensky also emphasized that preventive measures are being taken regarding both Belarus and specific Russian regions from which threats may emerge.
The president added that the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is expected to intensify diplomatic efforts regarding Belarus, including increased coordination with international partners. He stressed that continuous threats from Belarusian territory remain a serious concern.
Zelensky also noted that Ukraine’s intelligence services have been assigned additional non-public tasks in response to the potential escalation scenarios, and that the country has concrete capabilities to respond to threats originating from Russian territory.
