Ukraine’s Defense Forces reportedly destroyed a drone operator training school belonging to the “Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences” in the temporarily occupied city of Snizhne in the Donetsk region during the night of May 20.
According to Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, the strike killed the head of the training school, a lieutenant colonel known by the callsign “Buryi.” Total irreversible losses are estimated at no fewer than 65 Russian servicemen.
The operation was reportedly carried out by operators of the 1st Separate Center of Unmanned Systems in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine and coordinated with the DeepStrike Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces.
The targeted facility was allegedly used for training drone pilots, producing ammunition, and manufacturing components for UAV systems.
Ukrainian forces say the strike destroyed production and repair workshops, as well as four “Tigr” armored vehicles that had been brought in for repairs. Ammunition stockpiles and drone production components were also reportedly destroyed.
The Unmanned Systems Forces stated that attacks on such facilities directly undermine Russia’s ability to train UAV crews, repair armored vehicles, and support frontline operations.
