Russian forces attacked the Izmail district of Ukraine’s Odesa region overnight on May 16, damaging critical infrastructure and residential areas, local authorities said.
According to Odesa regional governor Oleh Kiper, a drone strike damaged a five-story apartment building. The blast damaged the facade and windows, while balconies and an auto parts store on the ground floor caught fire. Another single-story residential house was also damaged.
Two people were reported injured. Authorities said the victims are receiving medical assistance and no serious injuries have been recorded.
The strike also damaged power lines, leaving 39 settlements in the Izmail district without electricity. Officials said 22,662 consumers remain without power as repair crews work to restore the grid.
The attack follows Russia’s large-scale strikes earlier this week, including a massive assault on Kyiv and the surrounding region that damaged residential buildings and civilian infrastructure.
