Ukrainian Air Force said Russia launched 287 drones against Ukraine overnight on May 17, including Shahed attack drones, decoy UAVs, and jet-powered drones.
According to the Air Force, Ukrainian air defenses destroyed or suppressed 279 aerial targets using aviation, anti-aircraft missile systems, electronic warfare units, drone-defense systems, and mobile fire groups.
The drones were launched from several Russian regions, including Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
Despite the high interception rate, officials reported hits by eight strike drones across seven locations, while drone debris fell in seven additional areas.
The Air Force also warned that new groups of Russian drones remained in Ukrainian airspace and urged residents to follow safety precautions.
Separate overnight attacks were also reported in Dnipro and Kharkiv, where residential buildings, vehicles, and infrastructure were damaged.
