Ukraine’s Armed Forces carried out overnight strikes on May 17–18 against several key Russian military targets, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Near Kaspiysk in Russia’s Dagestan region, Ukrainian forces reportedly struck a Project 21980 “Grachonok” anti-sabotage patrol boat used by the Russian Navy to protect naval bases and military vessels.
A similar vessel of this class had previously been damaged near the Kerch Strait in April. Following repeated Ukrainian drone attacks, Russian forces in occupied Crimea reportedly began installing anti-drone nets on Grachonok-class boats.
Ukrainian strikes also targeted several Russian drone control centers near Karnatne in Russia’s Bryansk region, as well as Dvorichne in the Kharkiv region, Rozdolne and Shevchenko in the Donetsk region, and Kamianske in the Zaporizhzhia region.
In addition, Ukrainian Defense Forces attacked concentrations of Russian personnel near Olhyne on the Kherson axis and Piddubne in the Donetsk region.
The military also confirmed earlier successful strikes carried out on May 17 against a Tor-M2 surface-to-air missile system, a train carrying fuel and lubricants, and a communications hub located in Crimea and the occupied Donbas.
On May 16, Ukrainian forces reportedly destroyed a Ka-27 helicopter and a Be-200 amphibious aircraft at the Yeysk airfield in Russia’s Krasnodar region.
