The trend on the battlefield is not working in Russia’s favor.
During a visit to the Rivne region, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with local leaders from the Rivne, Zhytomyr, and Volyn regions to discuss security along Ukraine’s northern border.
“Today we discussed the protection of this northern direction with community leaders from Rivne, Zhytomyr, and Volyn regions. Given the existing threats, no direction will be left without attention,” Zelenskyy said.
He added that Ukraine expects renewed momentum in peace negotiations with the United States.
“We are doing everything to intensify diplomacy and bring the war closer to an end — this remains our top priority,” the president stated.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian forces have regained and secured 590 square kilometers of territory since the beginning of the year and achieved strong results in key sectors of the front.
“The trend is definitely not in the occupier’s favor. We continue increasing the rate of Russian personnel losses, and together with sanctions this is pushing Russia toward diplomacy,” he stressed.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said the negotiation process needs a new impulse, suggesting that direct talks between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia could help move it forward.
