Ukraine’s military intelligence agency Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has reportedly obtained documents detailing planned new Russian missile and drone strikes against Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the Russian army is preparing attacks on what it calls “decision-making centers” following a meeting with the leadership of Ukraine’s General Staff, military intelligence, foreign intelligence service, and the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to Zelenskyy, the list of potential targets includes nearly 20 political and military facilities. Published images reportedly show government buildings, underground protected facilities, and the presidential residence among the possible targets.
“Ukraine is not Russia,” Zelenskyy said, stressing that unlike Russia, where the war is driven by a single ruler and his inner circle, Ukraine’s defense is based on the determination of its people to fight for independence and sovereignty.
The president also said Ukrainian forces are identifying targets for future long-range retaliatory strikes against Russia in response to attacks on Ukrainian cities.
Russia carried out its largest aerial assault of the war between May 13 and 14, launching 1,692 drones and 41 missiles over two days. In Kyiv, 24 people, including three children, were killed after a strike hit a residential building in the city’s Darnytskyi district. Zelenskyy said preliminary information indicates the building was struck by a recently manufactured Kh-101 missile. May 15 was declared a Day of Mourning in Kyiv.
