He was welcomed back by Budanov.

Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Directorate (HUR) reported that the commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), Denis Kapustin, is alive, despite Russian special services offering a $500,000 bounty for his assassination. According to the agency, the money has now strengthened HUR special units, while the Russians were fooled.

“Welcome back,” HUR chief Kyrylo Budanov greeted Kapustin.

The circle of individuals who ordered Kapustin’s killing has been identified. Budanov was informed of this by the commander of the “Tymur Special Unit,” within which the RDK commander is fighting. “Our side also obtained the corresponding sum of money allocated by Russian special services to carry out this crime. As of now, the RDK commander is on the territory of Ukraine and is preparing to continue carrying out assigned tasks,” Colonel Tymur reported. It is noted that the operation lasted a month.

Kapustin himself said that his absence after the reported “liquidation” did not affect the quality of the tasks assigned to the RDK. He also expressed readiness to continue his work. Budanov thanked Commander Tymur for the operation.

Denis Kapustin, call sign White Rex, is a native of Moscow and has lived in Ukraine since 2017. He has been designated a “terrorist” and “extremist” by Russian authorities. Since August 2022, he has been fighting against Russian forces as part of the RDK, which gained media attention due to cross-border raids into Russia’s border regions under Kapustin’s leadership. On December 27, reports claimed that the RDK commander had been killed by an FPV drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
