The city of Kherson remains without electricity after a Russian overnight attack on August 6 damaged a critical infrastructure facility. Full power restoration may take several days.
The announcement was made by Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, via Telegram.
"The electricity situation in Kherson remains difficult following last night's Russian attack. Due to damage to a critical infrastructure facility, the city is currently without power," Prokudin said.
According to him, energy crews are working to eliminate the consequences of the strike and are doing everything possible to fully restore electricity within the next few days.
Residents have been urged not to overload the power grid once electricity is restored. Authorities advise against immediately switching on high-consumption appliances such as air conditioners, water heaters, electric stoves, washing machines, and other power-intensive equipment.
"Please follow these recommendations until emergency repair work is fully completed. Overloading the grid could cause additional outages and significantly delay the restoration of electricity," Prokudin stressed.
Overnight attack on Ukraine
During the night of August 6, Russia launched four missiles and 101 attack drones against Ukraine. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted most of the aerial targets, although multiple strikes were recorded.
Russian forces also attacked Sumy overnight with guided aerial bombs, causing damage and casualties.
Later that day, Russian drones struck a railway carriage near the train station in Lozova, Kharkiv region, killing and injuring several people.
