Scheduled power outages will be introduced across Ukraine on Wednesday, July 1, affecting households, businesses and industrial consumers, according to Ukrenergo.
The restrictions will apply nationwide from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.:
- Businesses and industry: power limitations from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Households: one scheduled outage group will also be disconnected during the same period.
Ukrenergo said the restrictions are necessary because electricity demand has surged amid prolonged hot weather.
“The situation in the power system may change. Please follow updates from your regional electricity distribution operator,” the company said.
Residents are also being urged to use electricity sparingly, especially during peak evening hours.
Earlier, emergency power outages were introduced in Sumy region, while emergency restrictions were also imposed in three districts of Odesa due to pressure on the power grid.
According to Ukrenergo, scheduled outages returned at the end of June after electricity consumption rose sharply during the heatwave. Planned maintenance at power plants and lower electricity imports have further strained the energy system, making temporary supply restrictions necessary.
