Ukraine's Joint Stock Company Ukrainian Defense Industry (Ukroboronprom) has dismissed the heads of two state-owned enterprises following the deadly explosions in Vyshneve, citing violations of ammunition storage regulations.
The company said other officials whose actions may have contributed to the incident have also been removed from their positions.
"All those responsible will face not only dismissal but also criminal liability under Ukrainian law. Ukrainian Defense Industry is fully cooperating with the Security Service of Ukraine and other investigative authorities, providing all necessary information and documentation," the company said.
Ukroboronprom added that a comprehensive inspection of ammunition storage and handling procedures is now underway at all defense industry enterprises.
The July 6 Russian strike on Vyshneve became the most destructive attack on the city's residential sector since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022. Secondary explosions of stored ammunition killed nine people and damaged around 280 residential buildings across 13 hectares.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has instructed the Security Service of Ukraine and intelligence agencies to conduct a full investigation into the causes of the tragedy.
