Ukrainian and U.S. delegations have wrapped up their meeting in Miami, Suspilne reported, citing sources within the Ukrainian delegation. Ukraine was represented by National Security and Defence Council Secretary Rustem Umerov and Ukraine’s Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Andriy Hnatov.
No details of the discussions have been made public.
Earlier, media reported that a meeting had been planned in Miami between U.S. President Donald Trump’s special representative, Steve Witkoff, and the president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Umerov.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had also said consultations in the United States were scheduled. According to him, Kyiv’s main objective is to obtain full information about what was discussed during the meeting between Trump administration representatives and Russian officials in Moscow. On Tuesday, December 2, Witkoff and Kushner met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin. The talks, which lasted more than five hours, focused on ending Russia’s war against Ukraine but did not produce a compromise peace proposal. The Kremlin said, however, that Putin did not reject the U.S. peace plan during the meeting.
