NASA has yet to comment on an apparent error during its live broadcast of the solar eclipse, when a map showed occupied Crimea as part of Russia.
The eclipse was streamed live by NASA, with its path crossing Greenland, Iceland and Spain. During the broadcast, viewers noticed that the map appeared to draw Russia’s border along the land boundary between mainland Ukraine and the Crimean Peninsula.
The agency has not yet explained the error or commented on the map.
The incident drew attention because Russia illegally annexed Crimea in 2014, and the peninsula remains internationally recognized as part of Ukraine.
