Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk welcomed President Volodymyr Zelensky's newly announced measures aimed at strengthening relations between Ukraine and Poland, saying Warsaw is ready for a "serious and friendly dialogue" based on mutual respect and truth.

Tusk's remarks came after Zelensky held a meeting on Ukraine's policy toward Poland and unveiled five initiatives to deepen bilateral cooperation. Among them are plans to open the archives of Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) and Foreign Intelligence Service related to the Volyn tragedy, expand permits for search and exhumation work, advance new diplomatic initiatives, and broaden dialogue between the two societies.

Ukraine has stepped up efforts in recent months to address historical issues with Poland. Exhumations of victims of the Volyn tragedy have begun at the former villages of Ostrivky and Volia Ostrovetska, where a mass burial site was discovered during an expedition earlier this year. Zelensky has also pledged to strengthen the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance as part of broader efforts to preserve the country's historical legacy.
