A Ukrainian court has ordered former Ambassador to the United States Olha Stefanishyna to post UAH 6 million (about $145,000) in bail as a preventive measure in a corruption investigation, Suspilne reported.
Under the court's ruling, Stefanishyna must:
- appear before detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) upon request;
- notify investigators of any change of residence;
- refrain from communicating with witnesses in the case.
Charges
Stefanishyna is suspected of illicit enrichment and filing false asset declarations.
According to investigators, she failed to declare:
- two apartments in Kyiv;
- renovation expenses for the properties;
- rental payments for housing;
- use of a Mercedes-Benz vehicle;
- payment of airline tickets;
- medical treatment expenses for her mother.
Background
On August 5, NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) formally announced new charges against Stefanishyna.
She has publicly responded to the allegations, denying wrongdoing.
Earlier, on August 3, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Stefanishyna from her position as ambassador to the United States.
The investigation follows a criminal case launched by SAPO in July 2025 over alleged misconduct during Stefanishyna's tenure as Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister of Justice of Ukraine.
