The head of a Russian company involved in drone development has been seriously wounded in a shooting attack in the city of Tula, according to Russian media reports.
Telegram channel 112 identified the victim as Andrey Cherezov, director of the Russian Air Transport Laboratory. According to the report, the attacker waited for Cherezov on the landing outside his apartment and opened fire, shooting him three times as he returned home.
The sound of the gunfire alerted Cherezov’s wife, who opened the apartment door and found her husband covered in blood. The gunman fled the scene before police arrived.
Cherezov was taken to hospital in critical condition. Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case on charges of attempted murder.
The Russian Air Transport Laboratory LLC was registered in Tula in 2022. Officially, the company is engaged in scientific research and development in the fields of natural and technical sciences. It has a registered capital of 20,000 rubles, while Cherezov is listed as its sole owner and director.
According to corporate records, the company reported revenue of 110 million rubles and a net profit of 6.7 million rubles in 2023.
Earlier, an explosion near Moscow’s Savyolovsky railway station reportedly left one person dead and another injured. According to Russian media, the blast involved a traffic police vehicle. The deceased was reported to be a traffic police officer, while the injured person was hospitalized.
