An explosion occurred at the El Farge ammunition factory on the outskirts of Granada, Spain, on October 30, injuring three people.
The incident was reported by Spanish newspaper ABC.
The blast occurred at around 9 a.m. in the factory’s gunpowder workshop. Access to the area was restricted, and safety regulations stipulated that no one should have been inside.
According to preliminary information from the UGT trade union, the explosion happened during a scheduled test, and the area had been cordoned off beforehand.
Emergency services, TEDAX bomb disposal specialists and National Police units arrived at the scene. Officers established two security perimeters.
Traffic on the A-92 motorway, which connects Granada with other regions, was not disrupted.
Injuries and damage
Three people were injured in the explosion. All suffered minor hearing injuries and were taken to hospital for medical examinations.
Experts reported no serious or structural damage to nearby residential buildings.
The factory belongs to Slovakia’s MSM Group and employs around 300 people. The facility was closed for the rest of the day following the incident.
The plant operates under strict security procedures: employees undergo metal detector checks every day, and bringing mobile phones onto the premises is strictly prohibited.
Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the factory has focused primarily on producing ammunition of various calibres and missile components for delivery to Ukraine.
Recently, a fire broke out at a factory in Poland that manufactures drones for the Ukrainian and Polish armed forces. A person wearing a balaclava was caught on camera entering the facility.
