Four Ukrainian servicemen were injured after ammunition detonated at a military training ground in the Khmelnytskyi region. Several other soldiers who were at the site remain out of contact, according to Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office.

The four injured servicemen were urgently taken to hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment. Doctors are currently assessing the severity of their injuries.

Authorities are also working to establish the whereabouts of several military personnel who were present at the site when the explosions occurred.

Investigators have begun questioning the command staff and personnel of the relevant military unit. A detailed inspection of the site will be carried out once the ammunition stops detonating and the area can be safely accessed.

The incident is being investigated under Article 414, Part 2, of Ukraine’s Criminal Code, concerning violations of rules governing the handling of weapons, ammunition, explosives or other hazardous substances that, due to negligence or carelessness, result in serious consequences.

Earlier, several powerful explosions were reported in Khmelnytskyi. Local residents said no air-raid alert had been issued in the city at the time.

Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces later clarified that the explosions were caused by an emergency incident at a military training ground belonging to one of the military units in the Khmelnytskyi region.
