Man detonates grenade during arrest in Dnipro, police officers injured

In Dnipro, a man detonated a grenade during a police detention attempt, resulting in his death and injuries to four law enforcement officers, according to the National Police of Ukraine.

Police said they received a report of a fight near a residential building on Luhovska Street in the Amur-Nyzhnodniprovskyi district late on June 5. Patrol officers arrived at the scene, where one of the individuals involved in the altercation allegedly threw a grenade toward police during the arrest attempt.

The suspect was killed in the explosion. Four police officers sustained injuries of varying severity and were hospitalized for treatment.

An investigation is ongoing, with forensic experts and other specialized units working at the scene to establish all circumstances of the incident.
