A Russian Su-30 fighter jet crashed in Russia’s Kaliningrad region on October 21, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, cited by RIA Novosti.
The aircraft crashed during a scheduled training flight, the ministry said.
The crew managed to eject and was evacuated by a search-and-rescue team. The pilots’ lives are not in danger, according to the ministry.
The Russian Defense Ministry added that the fighter was not carrying ammunition and crashed in an uninhabited area.
Footage circulating online showed a large plume of smoke rising into the sky after the aircraft went down.
A similar incident involving a Su-30 during a training flight occurred in Russian-occupied Crimea in April. The aircraft was also flying without ammunition, and its crew ejected safely.
