Emergency power outages have been introduced in Kyiv and several districts of the Kyiv region on October 8, while scheduled hourly outage timetables are not currently in effect, DTEK said.
The emergency restrictions affect Kyiv as well as the Boryspil, Brovary, Vyshhorod and Bucha districts of the Kyiv region.
Emergency outages have also been introduced in Chernihiv and Poltava regions. In Chernihiv region, 10 outage queues were activated simultaneously, while Poltava region also moved to emergency restrictions amid a difficult situation in the national power system.
The disruptions are linked to damage to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure caused by Russian attacks.
The reduced electricity supply has also affected Kyiv’s water system. Water pressure was lowered in the Shevchenkivskyi, Holosiivskyi, Solomianskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts, and some buildings may temporarily have no water supply, according to the Kyiv City Administration.
Residents are advised to monitor updates from their local electricity distribution operators, as the situation may change during the day.
Russia has repeatedly targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, forcing emergency restrictions and disrupting critical services. Ukraine is preparing for the heating season while repairing facilities damaged by previous attacks.
