Clocks were turned back one hour early Sunday, giving people an extra hour overnight.

Ukraine switched to winter time overnight from Saturday to Sunday, October 25. At 4 a.m., clocks were turned back one hour, making the day 25 hours long.

Most electronic devices adjust the time automatically, provided they are connected to the internet. If the change does not occur, there are several ways to check the correct time.

Online

Users can search Google or another search engine for “exact time in Ukraine” or “current time in Kyiv.” The correct time should appear directly below the search bar. Online clocks are another option.

Mobile phone

Modern smartphones generally switch to winter time automatically. Some mobile operators also offer a free service for checking the exact time.

Users can dial *160# and press the call button. The service can be used even if the account has no remaining balance. After submitting the request, users receive a message showing the time, date and day of the week.

Landline phone

The exact time can also be checked by calling 121 from a landline.

In July 2024, Ukraine’s parliament passed draft law No. 4201, “On the Calculation of Time in Ukraine,” proposing to abolish the seasonal switch from winter to summer time. However, President Volodymyr Zelensky has not signed the legislation.
