Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina has been eliminated from the WTA tournament in Washington.
In the quarterfinals, Svitolina lost to Philippines’ Alexandra Eala in straight sets, 3-6, 4-6. The match lasted 1 hour and 33 minutes. It was Eala’s second consecutive victory over Svitolina, after she also defeated the Ukrainian in the quarterfinals of the Berlin tournament in June.
The result marked Svitolina’s 10th quarterfinal appearance of the 2026 season and the 92nd of her career.
Earlier this season, the 31-year-old Ukrainian won titles in Auckland and Rome and reached the semifinals in Dubai, Indian Wells, Stuttgart and at the Australian Open.
