Ukraine’s women’s wrestling team continues to collect medals at the 2026 World Wrestling Championships in Kazakhstan’s capital. Following the team’s first gold medal, 22-year-old Natalia Klivchutska has secured at least silver after an impressive run to the final.
Klivchutska reaches first senior world final
Klivchutska began her campaign in the round of 16, defeating North Macedonia’s Veronika Konsevich 4–0. In the quarterfinals, she edged Russia’s Ekaterina Verbina 4–2 in a closely contested bout.
The Ukrainian delivered a dominant performance in the semifinals, defeating European Championship bronze medalist Tuba Demir of Turkey 6–0.
The final marks the first senior World Championship final of Klivchutska’s career. She will compete for gold against American Everest Leydecker, a U20 world champion.
Alpieieva wins gold, Vynnyk targets bronze
Ukraine’s only gold medal so far came from Anastasiia Alpieieva in the women’s 76 kg category.
Maria Vynnyk also has a chance to add to the team’s medal tally in the 59 kg category. Despite losing her semifinal to Pan American Games champion Abigail Elizabeth Nett of the United States, Vynnyk will compete for bronze against another American wrestler, Alexis Marie Janiak.
