Shovkovskyi faces resignation calls as main reasons for Dynamo’s collapse revealed

Dynamo Kyiv’s crushing 0–3 defeat to Turkish side Samsunspor in the UEFA Conference League has sparked a furious reaction from football analyst Mykhailo Smolovyi. He heavily criticized both the team’s performance and the coaching staff led by Oleksandr Shovkovskyi, calling the match “a circus.”

According to Smolovyi, individual mistakes — including Tiareh’s costly error that led to the opening goal — were merely symptoms of deeper systemic issues. He pointed to the team’s poor coordination, lack of passing options from central defenders, and the static nature of the midfield. The analyst claimed Dynamo’s players seemed lost under pressure, blaming the coaching staff for failing to prepare them tactically.

Smolovyi also slammed the team’s physical condition, calling the players “vegetables” who lose not because of inferior skill but due to poor mobility. He urged the club’s management to dismiss the fitness coach, arguing that Dynamo look completely unprepared for the intensity of European competition.

The expert dismissed excuses about player quality, insisting that it is the coach’s job to bridge any skill gap through tactical organization and proper preparation — something he said Dynamo lacked entirely.

Concluding his analysis, Smolovyi described the match as hopeless and said that coaches with self-respect would resign after such a performance. Following the defeat, Dynamo sit 34th in the overall Conference League standings. Their next match is scheduled for November 6 against Bosnian side Zrinjski Mostar.
