Ukraine’s men’s épée team claimed the silver medal at the 2026 Fencing World Championships.

The tournament is being held in Hong Kong.

In the final, the Ukrainian team of Roman Svichkar, Nikita Koshman, Yevhen Makiienko and Mykhailo Krasniuk lost 40–45 to Kazakhstan, coached by Ukrainian specialist Oleksandr Horbachuk.

On their way to the final, Ukraine defeated Sweden (45–35), Poland (41–40), Switzerland (39–37) and Israel (45–44).

It was Ukraine’s first appearance in the men’s team épée final at the World Championships since 2019, when the team also won silver in Budapest.

The medal is Ukraine’s second at the 2026 World Championships in Hong Kong, following Alina Polozyuk’s bronze in the women’s individual foil event.

Earlier, Ukraine matched its national record for the number of medals won at the European Fencing Championships.
