Ukrainian world champion Oleksandr Usyk, 38, is successfully recovering from a back injury as he prepares for his next fight against the winner of Joseph Parker vs. Fabio Wardley. The matchup will determine the mandatory challenger for Usyk’s WBO heavyweight title, Ring Magazine reports.

The Parker–Wardley fight is scheduled for next Saturday in London.

Joseph Parker is a professional heavyweight boxer from New Zealand.

Fabio Wardley is a British professional boxer and the “interim” WBA heavyweight champion.

Usyk currently holds all major world titles. In summer 2025, he successfully defended his WBA, WBO, WBC, and IBO titles, and captured the IBF belt after a knockout victory over Joshua Dubois on July 20.

According to Usyk’s advisor, Serhiy Lapin, Usyk completed a rehabilitation camp, is feeling well, and remains in excellent physical condition as he gears up for the upcoming fight.
