A fire broke out at a Wildberries sorting center in Kotovsk, Russia's Tambov region, during an overnight drone attack after what open-source analysts say was likely a strike by Russian air defenses on their own territory.

The assessment is based on videos circulating online that have been analyzed by OSINT communities.

Wildberries is Russia's largest online retailer and marketplace, accounting for an estimated 47% of the country's e-commerce market.

Tambov region Governor Yevgeny Pervyshov said the region came under a drone attack. According to his statement, seven people were killed and 24 others were injured. Firefighters continue working to extinguish the blaze.

The incident follows a major fire at a Wildberries warehouse in St. Petersburg in 2024, when flames engulfed about 50,000 square meters of storage space. Witnesses at the time said the fire alarm was initially ignored because staff believed it had been triggered by a false alarm.
