Russian President Vladimir Putin told the leaders of Finland and Norway that Russia would not compromise on its goal of capturing the entire Donbas region of Ukraine, Reuters and Sky News reported.
A Reuters source said Putin made the remarks during a phone call with Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
“The Europeans responded that a ‘just’ peace was necessary,” the source said.
Following the call, Støre said he had the impression that Moscow was preparing carefully for the upcoming talks in Abu Dhabi, Sky News reported.
