Kazakhstan said it expects Ukraine to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

Two days ago, Bloomberg reported several explosions on two tankers of russia’s “shadow fleet” in the Black Sea, namely the Virat and the Kairo. Yesterday, media reported that the Ukrainian navy, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, attacked these vessels using Sea Baby drones. The foreign ministries of Turkey and Kazakhstan condemned the Ukrainian strikes on the tankers.

Turkey’s ministry of foreign affairs said the country is concerned about the strikes on the Kairo and Virat vessels. “These incidents, which occurred in our exclusive economic zone in the Black Sea, posed serious risks to the safety of navigation, life, property, and the environment in the region,” ministry spokesperson Oncu Keçeli emphasized.

Kazakhstan’s foreign ministry protested against the strikes on the infrastructure of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium in the waters of the port of Novorossiysk.

“We consider this incident as one that harms bilateral relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Ukraine,” the statement said.

The ministry added that Kazakhstan expects Ukraine to take “concrete measures to prevent the recurrence of such cases.”
