US President Donald Trump has said that the war between Russia and Ukraine is nearing an end and that an agreement could be signed soon.
He made the remarks in an interview with The Benny Show.
Trump said he had previously avoided claiming that the war would end soon, but now believes the sides are close to reaching an agreement.
“Well, I think we're very close to making a deal on this, and I haven't said that before. I didn't say that initially. As you know, there was tremendous hatred between the two leaders, but I think we have a really good chance of settling this conflict as well,” the US president said.
Trump suggested that a major peace agreement could be reached during the G20 summit in December. His remarks came amid speculation that Russia and Ukraine could sign an agreement during the event, which is scheduled to take place at Trump's Doral resort.
The White House chief also expressed hope that a peace deal with Iran could become part of a trilateral negotiating process.
“Yes. We're working on a lot of deals. A lot of deals,” Trump said.
