A ballistic missile launched from Iran toward Turkey was intercepted again, Turkish authorities said.
According to the Ministry of National Defence of Turkey, NATO air defense forces in the eastern Mediterranean shot down the missile after it entered Turkish airspace on Monday, March 9.
“Some fragments of the munition fell in a desert area in Gaziantep Province. There were no casualties or injuries,” the ministry said.
This marks the second interception of an Iranian ballistic missile heading toward Turkish airspace within the past week.
The ministry stressed that Turkey values good neighborly relations and regional stability but warned it would not hesitate to take all necessary measures against threats to its territory and airspace.
