Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, said that Russia and China are helping Iran in various ways, including through military cooperation. He made the remarks in an interview with MSNBC, as reported by Politico.
“In the past we had close cooperation, and it continues today, and that also includes military cooperation… Iran has good cooperation with these countries — political, economic, and even military,” Araghchi said.
He described Moscow and Beijing as strategic partners of Tehran.
Araghchi also commented on the situation around the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, the passage is closed only to ships and tankers belonging to “our enemies, those who attack us, and their allies.”
“The strait is not closed. It is only closed to American and Israeli ships and tankers, not to others,” he said.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia had already transferred Shahed drones to Iran, which the Iranian regime is using against American bases and neighboring countries in the Middle East. According to Zelenskyy, intelligence data and specific details showed that some of those drones contained Russian components.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump attempted to justify Moscow’s actions, saying the Kremlin is helping Iran “a little.”
