Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Crimea is no less important for Russia’s security than Greenland is for the United States. He made the comments during a press conference summarizing Russian diplomacy in 2025, РИА Новости reports.
Lavrov claimed that global instability is rising, with many countries attempting to resolve conflicts through force rather than diplomacy, signaling a shift in the world order.
“Crimea is no less important for the security of the Russian Federation than Greenland is for the United States,” he said.
He also remarked that Greenland is not a natural part of Denmark. Lavrov emphasized, however, that Russia has no plans to interfere in the current conflict. According to him, neither China nor Russia intends to seize Greenland.
“NATO is facing a period of challenges, and Russia is not interested in meddling in Greenland’s affairs,” Lavrov added.
