He emphasized the importance of prioritizing support for Ukraine: "I have a meeting scheduled with President Zelenskyy because it is crucial that we continue to prioritize support for Ukraine. We cannot allow the war in the Gulf to result in an unexpected advantage for Vladimir Putin."

Rising oil prices amid the war
Following the U.S. and Israeli actions against Iran, oil prices surged as Iranian forces struck major oil fields and facilities across the Gulf. Iran also blocked the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil export route.

According to Financial Times, Russia’s budget gained up to $150 million daily from these price increases. Within the first 12 days of the U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict, Russia earned between $1.3 and $1.9 billion, with Urals crude jumping from $52 to $70–80 per barrel.

The situation is further complicated by Washington’s partial easing of sanctions on Russian exports to limit gasoline prices in the U.S., allowing Moscow to restore previous discounts for India and China.
