Ukrainian and Russian negotiators held a meeting in Abu Dhabi on Friday, focusing primarily on the territorial question, but failed to reach any compromise, Reuters reported.
According to the outlet, Kyiv is facing growing pressure from the United States to conclude a peace agreement, while Moscow is insisting on full control over the eastern industrial region of Donbas as a condition for ending hostilities.
Territories are the key issue
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the territorial dispute is the central topic of the trilateral talks involving Ukraine, Russia, and the United States, which are expected to conclude on Saturday. He added that it is still too early to draw conclusions from Friday’s meeting.
