Cryptocurrency exchange Binance says it has replaced around 90% of the cryptocurrency stolen in a $6.3 billion hack and plans to resume withdrawals by Sunday, Bloomberg reports.
In a social media post on Saturday, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange reiterated that it would absorb all losses from the theft so users would not lose their funds.
Binance is replenishing its reserves of various cryptocurrencies stolen by hackers, including Bitcoin, Zcash and the USDT and USDC stablecoins. The company is using funds from its corporate reserves, as well as reserve and insurance funds, to cover the losses.
“Binance will bear the financial impact of the theft, not its users,” the company said.
The remaining affected tokens have lower liquidity, making them more difficult to replace. In an earlier update, the company said it had recovered 80% of the stolen funds.
Experts have described the attack on Binance as the largest cryptocurrency theft in history and one of the biggest cyber incidents overall. The incident sent shockwaves through an industry seeking broader recognition and adoption.
As part of its response to the attack, Binance had previously suspended withdrawals.
