Russian forces attacked several regions of Ukraine overnight with a ballistic missile and dozens of drones of various types, Ukraine’s Air Force reported.
According to the Air Force, Russia launched:
- One Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missile;
- 88 attack drones, including 38 jet-powered drones, S8000 Banderoль/Dan-T drones, Gerbera drones and Parodiya decoy drones.
The aerial targets were launched from Taganrog, Oryol and Kursk in Russia, as well as Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea.
Ukraine deployed aircraft, surface-to-air missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups to repel the attack.
As of 8 a.m. local time on October 28, Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or suppressed 71 Russian drones, including 31 jet-powered drones.
Air strikes were recorded at eight locations, while debris from downed targets fell at two additional locations, the Air Force said.
Several attack drones remained in Ukrainian airspace as of the morning update, and efforts to intercept them were ongoing.
