Ukraine is working to ensure its missiles and drones can reach increasingly distant parts of Russian territory, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy said he had received a report on the results of Ukraine’s long-range strikes in September and October. He thanked the military for their accuracy and what he described as the consistent, effective implementation of Ukraine’s “long-range sanctions.”
“For every Russian strike on our cities and communities, there is always a fully justified response. Russian facilities stretching from Yamal to Western Siberia are now within reach of our long-range strikes, and we are working to ensure our drones and missiles can reach even more remote Russian territories,” the president said.
He added that key priorities had been identified for future long-range operations.
“Units carrying out long-range strikes will also be expanded, drawing on the capabilities of the Security Service of Ukraine, particularly its Alpha Special Operations Center, as well as our intelligence agencies and other components of Ukraine’s Defense Forces,” Zelenskyy said.
The president stressed that Ukraine’s long-range strike capabilities are one of the practical guarantees of maintaining the country’s independence during the war and will remain a long-term security guarantee after peace is achieved.
On the night of October 30, a large-scale drone attack caused major disruption at Moscow’s airports, with more than 200 flights canceled.
Drones also attacked Novokuibyshevsk in Russia’s Samara region that night, sparking a fire at a local oil refinery that produces jet fuel for Russian military aircraft.
