Serhiy Rebrov has been dismissed as head coach of the Ukraine national football team after failing to qualify the team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The decision was announced by the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF).
According to the official statement, both sides agreed to terminate the cooperation.
UAF President Andriy Shevchenko thanked Rebrov for his work and contribution to the development of young players, noting that the federation now needs to move forward with new decisions that will shape the future of the national team.
At the same time, Rebrov will continue to work within the UAF structure as vice-president and a member of the Executive Committee.
The federation also stated that the name of the new head coach will be announced later. Ukrainian media have mentioned several possible candidates, including Ruslan Rotan, Myron Markevych, and U21 coach Unai Melgosa.
Rebrov had been in charge of the national team since 2023. Under his leadership, Ukraine qualified for Euro 2024 but failed to reach the knockout stage.
In the 2026 World Cup qualifying playoffs, Ukraine reached the semi-final stage against Sweden but suffered a 1–3 defeat.
