krainian athletes have finished their performances in Italy.

Ukraine’s national team ended the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo without winning a single medal.

The final event featuring Ukrainian athletes was the men’s mass start in cross-country skiing. However, Dmytro Dragun and Oleksandr Lisohor were not considered favorites in the race for medals from the start. On February 22, Anastasiia Nikon was scheduled to compete in the women’s mass start, but withdrew due to illness.

Freestyle skiers were seen as Ukraine’s main hope for Olympic medals, as Oleksandr Abramenko had won gold and silver for the country at the previous two Winter Games. However, the ski aerials competition in Italy did not go in Ukraine’s favor.

Skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych also had realistic chances to compete for a medal, but the International Olympic Committee disqualified the Ukrainian athlete after he wore a “memory helmet” featuring photos of athletes killed by Russia during training runs.

Ukraine’s biathlon team, which also includes strong competitors, failed to challenge the favorites in their races.

Ukraine finished the Winter Olympics without medals for the first time in 16 years and for only the third time in its history. The previous time this happened was at the 2010 Games in Vancouver, and earlier at Salt Lake City 2002. Ukraine won two medals in Sochi 2014, and one each in PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022.

With one day remaining until the end of the Games, Norway leads the medal standings.
