Nearly 800 people have been evacuated from the occupied city of Oleshky in Ukraine’s Kherson region, while urgently needed humanitarian aid was delivered to the area, US First Lady Melania Trump said.
She announced that the ceasefire in Oleshky had ended and described the humanitarian mission as successful.
“On behalf of America, I express my appreciation to Russia and Ukraine for their leadership and cooperation during the Oleshky ceasefire. I hope the events in Oleshky will serve as a foundation for establishing lasting peace between the two countries,” she wrote on X.
Melania Trump said the ceasefire was in effect from October 27 to November 1, 2026.
Following the end of the truce, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets said new humanitarian missions could be arranged.
However, Ukraine’s General Staff reported that Russian forces had used the pause to prepare for further attacks in the Kherson region, including by reinforcing their positions and rotating troops.
