Iran launched another ballistic missile attack on Qatar, striking the world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) complex in Ras Laffan less than 12 hours after the first strike, CNN reports.

A fire broke out at the strategic facility following the attack. Qatar’s Ministry of Interior stated that the air defense forces intercepted most of the missiles, but one struck the energy infrastructure area. Emergency services quickly responded and managed to contain the fire.

The state-owned company QatarEnergy confirmed the attack and reported serious damage, but no casualties have been reported, and all personnel are safe. According to Qatari authorities, Iran launched several ballistic missiles, most of which were intercepted.

Ras Laffan is one of the largest LNG export hubs in the world, meaning the strike could have implications for the global energy market.

The attack occurs amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following the ongoing conflict between Iran, the U.S., and Israel, during which Tehran has repeatedly targeted regional infrastructure.

Qatar condemned the attack and stated it reserves the right to respond. The previous attack occurred just 12 hours earlier, and on March 2, Iranian drones also struck QatarEnergy facilities in Ras Laffan.

Today, Doha announced that it will expel Iranian diplomats, giving them 24 hours to leave the country following the missile attack. Saudi Arabia is also preparing a response to Iran, as its oil facilities have also been targeted by Islamic State missiles.
