The supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, has rejected proposals to reduce tensions or agree to a ceasefire with the United States, according to a senior Iranian official cited by Reuters.
The proposals were reportedly delivered to Tehran through two intermediary countries. However, the official said Khamenei’s position remains firmly confrontational, particularly toward both the U.S. and Israel.
During his first foreign policy session, Khamenei’s stance on retaliation was described as “very tough and serious.” According to the source, he stated that “it is not the time for peace until the United States and Israel kneel, admit defeat, and pay compensation.”
Earlier reports indicated that the administration of Donald Trump had also rejected diplomatic efforts by Middle Eastern allies aimed at initiating negotiations to end the conflict.
The apparent lack of willingness on both sides to engage in talks suggests that Iran and the United States may be preparing for a prolonged confrontation.
