Exports of crude oil and fuel from Russia’s key Baltic Sea ports of Primorsk and Ust-Luga have reportedly been suspended following drone attacks, according to Reuters.
The two ports are among Russia’s main export hubs for oil shipments. The disruption comes amid reported damage to infrastructure after overnight strikes, which also caused fires in fuel storage facilities.
The governor of the Leningrad Oblast, Aleksandr Drozdenko, confirmed that several fuel tanks caught fire in Primorsk after the attack, though he did not explicitly confirm a full suspension of exports.
Primorsk alone is capable of exporting more than one million barrels of crude oil per day and serves as a major outlet for Russia’s Urals crude and diesel shipments. Ust-Luga handled approximately 32.9 million tons of oil products last year, while Primorsk accounted for 16.8 million tons, according to cited data.
The reported disruption adds pressure on global energy markets, which are already sensitive due to geopolitical tensions and supply risks.
