Iran threatens strikes on energy and IT infrastructure.
Iran responded to the threat by U.S. President Donald Trump to strike Iranian power plants if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened in the near future. The country’s military command stated that it would target key infrastructure in the Middle East, including energy and information technology facilities, according to Bloomberg.
“Following previous warnings, if the enemy attacks Iran’s fuel and energy infrastructure, all energy, IT, and desalination infrastructure belonging to the United States and the regime in the region will become targets,” the statement said, as published by Tasnim News Agency.
A day earlier, Donald Trump stated that he would “strike and destroy” Iran’s power plants, starting with the largest one, if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened within 48 hours. The escalation in rhetoric came after the U.S. president said he was considering “winding down” the military operation.
