On January 17, Ukrainian and U.S. delegations will meet in Miami to work on a security guarantees agreement for Ukraine, Ambassador to the U.S. Olha Stefanishyna announced on Facebook.

She noted that Ukraine continues active consultations with the United States on future security architecture and long-term economic development. The Miami talks will include Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, Presidential Office head Kyrylo Budanov, and Servant of the People faction leader David Arakhamia.

The two sides are focusing on two key documents: a security guarantees agreement and an economic development package for Ukraine worth up to $800 billion. These agreements could be signed at the World Economic Forum in Davos from January 19–23. Stefanishyna emphasized that the goal of the visit is to refine the agreements to best serve Ukraine’s national interests.

Ukraine and the U.S. have previously held several rounds of negotiations in Miami, including discussions on a 20-point U.S. peace plan. Disagreements remain on some issues, particularly U.S. demands for Ukraine to make territorial concessions to Russia, which President Zelensky has rejected, insisting that Ukrainian forces will not withdraw from Donetsk or cede control to Moscow.

Recently, former U.S. President Donald Trump stirred controversy by claiming that Zelensky, rather than Russian President Vladimir Putin, is slowing the peace process.
