No reports of casualties among American personnel have been received so far.

On the night of March 18, United States forces struck Iranian missile facilities near the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran launched another attack on the US embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, where a rocket had hit a helicopter landing pad the day before.

According to the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), the US used several 2.26-ton deep-penetration munitions against fortified Iranian missile sites along the country’s coastline near the Strait of Hormuz. Military officials said that Iranian anti-ship cruise missiles located at these sites posed a threat to international shipping in the strait.

Meanwhile, according to Reuters, on Tuesday morning Iran launched missiles and drones at the US embassy in Baghdad. An explosion was reported in the area. At least three attack drones also targeted a US diplomatic facility near Baghdad International Airport, triggering the C-RAM air defense system. No information about casualties or damage has been reported.

Additionally, Tehran confirmed the death of senior official Ali Larijani, Secretary of the National Security Council, along with his son and deputy. Earlier in March, US intelligence intercepted a coded signal that may have originated from Iran and was possibly intended for agents abroad. Around the same time, Iranian officials stated that Ukraine could be considered a “legitimate target.”
